Like the rest of Africa, Kenya is still predominantly rural but it is rapidly urbanizing. Today, almost 30% of Kenyans live in cities. From now on, most of Kenya’s population growth will be urban. While total population will double by 2045, the urban population will more than quadruple.
The burden of provision has moved to the modern woman and we have witnessed a sharp increase in the diversity of household and family types, including single-parent household, from 25% in 2009 to 40% in 2019.
